Welcome from the Boarding Program
It is our pleasure to welcome you and your child to the residential community at OCAC. I trust your experience with us is rewarding and enlightening. Residential life at OCAC is available for students in Grades 6 to 12.
Our community is built upon the foundations of respect, responsibility, and accountability. All three are pillars to living a successful life and we aim to equip students with the needs for the 21st century. It is through a partnership between the home, school, and boarding house that this is achieved and celebrated.
Our facilities are uniquely homely. While it is impossible to replicate a home situation entirely, boarders are provided with their own space and with an opportunity to live and learn alongside their mates, family, and friends.
Our boarders are provided with an excellent activities program, taking advantage of our unique location within SIP in the Suzhou area. We are within easy reach of many amazing opportunities, and we like to ensure that our activities program balances culture with fun.
Once again, welcome to the residential community and I look forward to working with you and your family as we journey together to provide the best possible care for your child.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me should you require more information.
The OCAC Suzhou Boarding Programme is an invaluable experience for our students, prepares them for success in the world beyond high school. Our boarding programme provides many opportunities for students to build their leadership, conflict-resolution, critical-thinking, problem-solving, and life-management skills. Most importantly, our boarding programme enables our graduates to respect and develop a deep understanding of the world's cultures, to be fluent in both Chinese and English, to be familiar with other modern languages and to be able to face the ongoing global challenges.
One of the core purposes of education is character shaping, which is the most important shared responsibility of the school and families. Character shaping lies at the heart of the boarding programme. Each child is unique and has an innate talent that should be nurtured to develop to the fullest potential.
“Learning Community” best enables students and teachers to creatively and holistically explore different fields of knowledge, fostering individual and collaborative learning skills that are critical for the 21st Century. The boarding programme provides opportunities for students to work collaboratively in experiential learning projects and activities. Boarding teachers will support students in their academic consolidation after school on campus.
The boarding programme provides opportunities for all students by offering a wide range of activities in which they can explore their interests, learn to take responsibility and develop leadership skills. The high-quality teacher-student interaction contributes to effective teaching and learning. Boarding teachers work closely with the academic staff, acting as mentors for students, guiding them in their character shaping and academic progress.
