In the eyes of many, Elsa Huang in Class 5E1 has always been a quiet student. But this quiet and introverted girl has just scored 885 out of 900 in the Global TOEFL Junior testing, including 290 in listening, 300 in language, and 295 in reading.
Elsa Huang has developed good English study habits from an early age and carefully follows her daily study and reading schedule. As for learning English, she does not attend many extracurricular English classes and does not consciously spend much time learning grammar and memorizing words. Instead, she reads English every day, from simple English picture books and English stories to RAZ and A3000, then to original English novels, her only secret is to keep reading. She completed all level RAZ reading at the first semester of grade four.
In 2018, when she was still in kindergarten, she participated in the FLTRP Cup Children’s English Competition. From the Suzhou City Competition to the Jiangsu Province Competition, and then to the Beijing National Competition. She maintained a steady form and brought out the English knowledge, language skills, and expressions she had accumulated from reading to the best of her ability. She won the first prize in the national finals in the individual category, the Little Master of Acting and Reading Award in the national finals.
The OCAC s is a platform that integrates the best of the Eastern and Western cultures and is committed to all-round development. As a hardworking IB student, Elsa Huang continues to learn the basics and actively participates in thematic explorations and various social activities. She consistently maintained her momentum in all exams and MAP tests. She received many rewards and positive recognitions from the school and teachers.
Like most others, playing the piano and painting are two fundamental skills that Elsa Huang has insisted on from a very young age. One hour of piano practice every day and painting every week. She has cultivated her emotions as well as built a good foundation in music and painting. Many of her paintings have been selected for children’s painting exhibitions, and she has won several gold and silver awards in competitions.
Elsa Huang may look like a quiet girl, but she’s a Sportsgirl who loves to exercise and enjoy the outdoors. Tennis, biking, hiking, skiing, and running are her passions. She practices tennis 2 times a week, often meets with her friends on weekends to go riding and climbing outdoors, she goes skiing with her parents every year. In early 2022, while trapped at home by the Covid-19, she ran 4-6km every day and won first prize in the school’s virtual sports contest.
In the summer of 2022, she also accomplished the feat of riding 220km around Taihu Lake for 3 days with her friends.
